Connecticut (UConn) quickly rose to prominence after Coach Geno Auriemma was hired in August 1985. Since then, he has led UConn to 11 NCAA Division 1 national championships, the most in women's college basketball history. He has also won eight national Naismith College Coach of the Year awards.
